Monitor elections with commitment and conscience: CEC Yadav

KATHMANDU: Chief Election Commissioner  Ayodhi Prasad Yadav has directed to the election monitoring team leaders to monitor elections by charting out a plan with analysis of possible challenges in the run-up to elections.

In an interaction with monitoring team leaders deputed at 461 local levels of 43 districts of the country in course of the second phase of elections scheduled for June 28, CEC Yadav suggested monitoring with commitment and consciences for fair and impartial elections.

Noting that all the doubts and confusions emerged on elections would be clarified with the nomination of candidacy on June 17, he directed the subordinate bodies  not to spare taking action against those breaching the election code of conduct.

He also directed the monitoring teams to keep all the documents related to compliance status of the code of conduct while articulating firm commitment of the EC to hold elections in a free and fair manner.

On the occasion, EC Secretary Gopinath Mainali suggested the election monitoring team leaders discharge the responsibility of scrutinising  election monitoring as an integral part of the EC.

The EC has deputed two secretaries and 43 joint secretaries in the districts as election monitoring team leaders.
