Motorcyclist killed in collision with bus at Babarmahal

KATHMANDU: A man died after the motorcycle he was riding on crashed into a passenger bus at Babarmahal in Kathmandu on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as the motorcyclist Sharanta Raj Pandey (23) of Jorpati in Gokarneshwar Municipality of Kathmandu district.

According to police, the incident occurred when the motorcycle (Ba 84 Pa 7461) en route from Baneshwor to Maitighar went out of control and crashed into the side of a Sajha bus (Ba 3 Kha 2228), at Babarmahal near Ratobhale restaurant, at 12:15 pm yesterday.

It has been learnt that the speeding motorcycle lost control when suddenly two pedestrians appeared out of nowhere in the middle of the road, critically injuring Pandey.

Pandey was rushed to the National Trauma Centre, Mahankal where he succumbed to his injuries at around 1:00 pm the same day during the course of treatment, informed police.

Meanwhile, police have impounded both the vehicles and detained the bus driver for further investigation.
