KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 08

Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM)'s three-day national tourism conclave 2022 has successfully concluded on a high note, in Kathmandu, on Thursday.

A maiden conclave event was organized to celebrate the 'Golden Jubilee' of the academy.

As clock hit 10:00 am, the program kicked-off with a panel discussion on 'Unlocking Nepal's culinary potential' moderated by Sujan Karki.

Speaking on the occasion, one of the key note speakers, Professor Dr Nimit Chowdhary, faculty of management studies at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, said, "Along with local cuisine, Nepali hospitality entrepreneurs should also focus on offering customer-centric products as well to visitors."

He also said a slogan "Jindagi se behal, chalo Nepal," that would be suitable to Nepali hospitality entrepreneurs while selling their products to attract Indian tourists to the Himalayan nation.

On the occasion, various panel discussions were held on wide range of issues---spiritual tourism, conservation and sustainable tourism, Discourses and dimensions of tourism and hospitality education.

One of the panelists, Dr Ghana Shyam Gurung, Country Representative WWF, said, all the stakeholders should work closely for sustainable tourism development while reflecting on the importance of nature conservation.

As the event went on, college students presented traditional cultural dances of various ethnic groups of Nepal to entertain the guests, panelists, foreign delegates and other participants.

Delivering key note speech, Sugat Ratna Kansakar former managing director of Nepal Airlines Corporation, said, "Without uplifting national flag carrier, Nepal's tourism is not going anywhere."

If we are to revive our tourism industry, then, airfare to Kathmandu must be in par with New-Delhi, he said adding that everyone must raise their voice to put pressure on government towards this end.

On the closing ceremony, program's chairman and NATHM's Executive Director Rajesh Upreti extended his gratitude and congratulations to all the participants, panelists, guests, delegates, media, and organizers for hosting the event.

"We also look forward to organizing such events in the future as well," ED Upreti shared.

The event was hosted by Damber Raj Bhatta and sessions were conducted by other co-hosts.
