KATHMANDU, JULY 11

The Nepali Congress is set to vote against Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's proposal seeking a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives on July 12.

PM Dahal is seeking a vote of confidence for his government from the lower house of the Federal Parliament in a meeting scheduled for 11:00 am tomorrow.

Nepali Congress Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak issued a directive to the party's lawmakers to vote against the Prime Minister's motion of confidence.

Chief Whip Lekhak also mandated that NC lawmakers must be present at the HoR meeting, participate in the proceedings, and not remain neutral during the voting on the motion, according to a statement from the NC Parliamentary Office.

Prime Minister Dahal, who is also the Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre), is seeking a vote of confidence for the fifth time in the House of Representatives in the past 18 months.

Recently, he has sought this vote of confidence in accordance with Article 100 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal, following the CPN (UML)'s withdrawal from the government.

The largest party in the HoR, the Nepali Congress, and the second largest, the CPN (UML), forged an agreement on July 1 to form a new government, with these parties taking turns leading the administration.
