KATHMANDU, APRIL 08

Nepali Congress President and former Primer Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has called a three-party meeting on Friday to discuss the possibility of forming a new government under NC leadership.

Leader Deuba has invited CPN (Maoist Centre) and Janata Samajbadi Party- Nepal for talks at around 3:00 pm, a week after the main opposition party's Central Working Committe had directed the party to initiate process for the formation of a new government.

At the meeting, Deuba is expected to seek formal opinion of the Maoist Centre and JSP-N regarding the same.

CPN Maoist Centre is in favour of replacing the KP Shama Oli-led government, while Janata Samajwadi Party leaders stand divided in the matter.

Senior leaders Baburam Bhattarai and Upendra Yadav are in favour of replacing the incumbent government whereas party chairman Mahanta Thakur and senior leader Rajendra Mahato are in constant touch with the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
