NC sister wings reproach new recommendation to NA by govt

KATHMANDU: Sister wings of the Nepali Congress (NC) have expressed their serious reservation to the government's decision on new recommendation of National Assembly (NA) members.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers on Tuesday had recommended Dr Yuvraj Khatiwada (Jhapa), Ram Narayan Bidari (Makawanpur) and Dr Bimala Poudel (Morang) as the members of the NA after calling back the recommendation made by erstwhile NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government.

Chairs of the various sister wings of the party, by organising a press meet here today, protested the government decision on grounds of it being unconstitutional.

They stated that the Head of the State did different treatment over the recommendations. President Bidya Devi Bhandari had appointed the three given names to the NA on Tuesday itself.

The Deuba-led government had recommended the names of Chandani Joshi, Gopal Basnet and Krishna Prasad Poudel as the NA members.

Nepal Women Association Chair Uma Regmi, Nepal Trade Union Congress Chair Khila Dahal, Nepal Tarun Dal Chair Jitjung Basnet, and Nepal Student Union Chair Nain Singh Mahar have urged the government to correct the decision.
