KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 22
Nepali Congress' candidate for House of Representatives election Prakash Man Singh has been elected from Kathmandu 1.
Singh emerged victorious in what was a very tight race to the parliament, securing 7143 votes.
Rastriya Prajatantra Party's Rabindra Mishra finished second with 7018 votes, getting defeated by a narrow margin of 135 votes.
Likewise, newly formed Rastriya Swatantra Party had fielded Pukar Bam as their candidate, who ended third with 4115 votes.
Bam and Mishra were previously in the same party, Bibeksheel Sajha, which got split up after many a disputes within the party. Mishra later joined RPP early this year advocating for reinstatement of monarchy, and abolishment of provincial structure and secularism, after years of rallying for alternative politics.
Mishra, who was leading Bibeksheel Sajha Party, had been defeated by Singh in the 2074 elections in what also was a close finish by 819 votes.
Both their votes have decreased significantly this time around as Singh had garners 10,937 back then versus Mishra's 10,118 votes.
