Nepal, China seal on projects
KATHMANDU: Nepal and China today signed a ‘letter of exchange’ on development cooperation projects, a press statement issued here by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated today.
Cleaning of vehicles and equipment, setting up inspection station at the Tatopani frontier and a survey of the proposed project on improvement of the Kathmandu Valley ring road figured out prominently in the letter.
Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala and her Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi signed the agreement. Minister Koirala is currently on a visit to China. The visit is seen as strengthening friendly ties between the two neighbours.
Koirala stated that Nepal was committed to banning anti-China activities in the country. She also stressed the need to continue cooperation in trade and investment, education, culture and tourism, agriculture and infrastructure development, among others.
On the occasion, Chinese Foreign Minister Jiechi had assured additional RMB 150 million this year, from its earlier RMB 100 million to Nepal. Minister Jiechi said he was positively looking forward to new development projects.
