Nepali Congress 13th general convention kicks off

KATHMANDU: The 13th general convention of the Nepali Congress (NC), the largest party in the Parliament, has begun in Khula Manch of the Capital on Thursday.

NC Acting President Ram Chandra Paudel inaugurated the programme.

As many as 3,000 convention representatives from all 75 districts and over a dozen foreign delegates are participating in the gala.

Similarly, top leaders of major political parties and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli are also taking part in the jamboree.

Ram Chandra Paudel, Krishna Prasad Sitaula from the extablishment faction and Sher Bahadur Deuba from the rival faction are in the fray for the top post of the party.

Though Sujata Koirala had announced her candidacy for the top post of the party yesterday, she withdrew her candidacy today and decided to lend her support to Paudel in the elections.

The closed session of the gala will be held from March 4-6 in Bhrikutimandap.
