The Nepali Congress central committee has decided to extend the renewal and distribution of active membership of the party until mid-April. The earlier deadline was March 23.
The decision was taken as membership distribution and renewal are yet to be completed in some districts. It was based on the extension sought by the committee led by Ramesh Lekhak formed to investigate the issue of active membership, party spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma said.
The NC's central committee meeting held at the party office on Friday evening took a decision to this effect.
The meeting also decided to initiate the formation of a new government under Nepali Congress' leadership.
Spokesperson Sharma said, the main opposition NC has decided to seek the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli as the PM has not taken any initiative of a way forward despite the House of Representatives being restored.
