‘Nepali Congress hasn't discussed impeaching Lok Man Singh Karki'
KATHMANDU: Minister for Defence and Nepali Congress leader NP Saud said that the party has not held any discussions on whether to support the impeachment motion against the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Chief Lok Man Singh Karki yet.
Speaking at an interaction organised at the Reporters’ Club in the Capital on Thursday, leader Saud clarified that the party has not held any discussions over the issue of Karki and has no involvement over registering impeachment motion against him.
As many as 157 lawmakers from the governing CPN Maoist Centre and the main opposition CPN-UML on Wednesday evening had registered an impeachment motion against Karki at the Parliament Secretariat.
“The party has not made any decisions over the issue yet. We will make the decision only after holding a meeting with party leaders.”
“The impeachment issue is the ownership of the Parliament,” he said.
Moreover, he said that the Central Working Committee meeting of the party that would begin from today would also make public an official decision regarding amendment to the Constitution.

Also speaking on the occasion, CPN-UML Secretary Pradeep Gyawali said that the impeachment motion registered against Karki was laudable and clarified that his party would help the House conclude the issue.
“This issue should be ended and UML will help for the same,” he said.
