'New Force' to turn into party by mid-April, says Bhattarai

KATMANDU: Former Prime Minister and Coordinator of New Force (Naya Shakti) Formation Campaign, Baburam Bhattarai, informed that he would transform his campaign into a political party by mid-April this year.

Bhattarai, while receiving a memorandum from the Reports' Club at his residence in Sanepal today, stated that he was consulting representatives of various sectors to transform the Force into a political party,

"It has been important to develop the New Force Campaign as a party for the economic development of nation," Bhattarai further said.

His new party would work as an alternative to other parties for people and it would be free of corruption for the economic growth of nation, stated the former senior leader of the UCPN-Maoist.

Ruling out the possibility of returning to his old party, Bhattarai said the old one could not work and it necessitated the New Force.

On a different context, he informed that the current situation of the country could be solved only through consensus, like the Maoist insurgency.

Bhattari further said the country should move forward as a dynamic bridge between two giant neighbours, rather than increasing the disputes on trivial issues with the southern neighbour.
