KATHMANDU: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Chairman Anup Raj Sharma said the statement made by NHRC member and spokesperson Mohna Ansari at United Nations Universal Periodic Review session was an official statement of the organisation, but not her personal remark.

After Ansari was reportedly asked to clarify over her statement at the United Nations Universal Periodic Review session in Geneva in March by the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Sharma issued a statement to clarify the issue. PM Oli had summoned Sharma and other NHRC members on April 3, 2016 and sought clarification regarding Ansari's statement.

Claiming the constitutional human rights body's attention was drawn to various comments being circulated in the public regarding its statement, Sharma said regular dialogues would more effective to solve any dispute.

He said no one should be above the law.
