NRB yet to reply to Special Court
Kathmandu, January 1:
The corruption case related to the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor and Executive Director is scheduled to be presented before the Special Court tomorrow but the NRB is yet to verify a letter by the KPMG-Sri Lanka as per the court order.
Registrar of the Special Court Lekhnath Paudel said the NRB had not written to the court about the verification of a letter sent to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority by the KPMG-Srilanka on June 18.
“If the NRB fails to reply to the court by tomorrow afternoon -- when the three-day deadline ends, the case may have to be extended for a few days,” Paudel told this daily. The case against NRB Governor Bijaya Nath Bhattarai and Executive Director Surendra Man Pradhan has been pending for six months. A source at the NRB claimed that it had inquired about the letter from the KPMG-Sri Lanka but did not receive any reply.
