Octogenarian drugged, robbed of gold rings
KATHMANDU: An unidentified visitor offered packaged fruit juice, apparently spiked with sedative, to 84-year-old landlord and robbed him of gold rings worth around Rs 1,65,000 in Bista Gaun of Kageshwari Manahara of Kathmandu, on Monday.
Police said the conman had approached Krishna Bahadur Bista on the pretext of seeing land for sale. Finding the octogenarian alone in his house, the visitor took advantage of the situation and offered him two packets of drugged Frooti, according to police.
After rendering him unconscious, the conman decamped with two rings, made up of three tola gold, that Bista was wearing.
Bista was first taken to Pepsi Cola-based Motherland Hospital. He is currently undergoing treatment at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajganj.
Police said they are looking into the case and looking for the robber.
