KATHMANDU, APRIL 22
CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli has appealed to all to support the campaign aimed at materializing the slogan of 'Prosperous Nepal; Happy Nepali.'
Addressing the Diamond Jubilee celebration organized on the occasion of the establishment of the Nepal Communist Party, Oli described the slogan as a movement introduced for Nepal and Nepalis. He called for assistance from all responsible sides in the country.
The program witnessed the presence of the leadership of major political parties and former prime ministers as well.
In his remarks, Oli emphasized the importance of national unity, democracy, and a prosperous Nepal, stating that his party remains committed to further strengthening and institutionalizing democracy, which was achieved after significant sacrifices and struggles.
Chair Oli also highlighted the vital role of the UML in the country's major movements, such as the end of the Rana regime and the establishment of multiparty democracy and a republic.
Asserting that the Communist Party of Nepal has a proud 75-year history, Oli argued that the communist movement should now progress towards socialism. He stressed the unity and polarization of the country's major communist forces but cautioned that such unity should be based on cooperation and trust rather than haste.
Likewise, Oli stated that the new government, formed with a new political coalition, aims to address the burning issues of the country, safeguard national identity and independence, and ensure good governance.
During the Diamond Jubilee celebration, Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda,' former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, former PMs Jhalanath Khanal and Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, former Chair of the Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi, Deputy Prime Minister and Rastriya Swatantra Party President Rabi Lamichhane, Chair of Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal and Deputy Prime Minister Upendra Yadav, and other leaders were present.
