Onus on children to build new Nepal: PM
Kathmandu, November 1:
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal today said that every child needed to be innovative, creative and should have the capacity to bring changes and build a new Nepal.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of 4th National Convention of Student Quality Circle (SQC) here, Dahal stressed the need to foster cooperation, coordination and collaboration among children to solve their problems.
He also appreciated the initiation taken by Jagadish Gandhi, chairperson of the World Council for Total Quality and Excellence, to develop quality circles to groom the personality of children.
Prof Dinesh P Chapagain, chairperson of QUEST-Nepal, said the SQC would help produce smart students in a holistic manner.
“The convention is expected to help set up mind for cooperation, coordination and collaboration among the children in establishing social, political and economic justice in the society. This would help create a conducive environment for self and mutual development,”
he added. Prof Chapagain also proposed the Prime Minister to include
co-curricular activities as an integral part of school curriculum.
Speaking on the occasion, Jagadish Gandhi emphasised the need to train children from early age by adopting innovative ideas.
Some 1,200 students from 73 different schools throughout the country are taking part in the convention. Of the 73 participating schools, 38 schools are from outside the Valley. The three-day convention is being organised to make students aware of the quality concepts from their early stages of life and to promote SQC as an integral part of academic institution.
