KATHMANDU, JUNE 11
Opposition parties continued to obstruct proceedings in the House of Representatives (HoR) today as well, reiterating their demand for Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak's resignation over the visit visa scandal.
The obstruction has persisted for the past two weeks.
As today's session began, lawmakers from opposition parties, including the CPN (Maoist Centre), stood in protest from their respective seats, pressing for the Home Minister's dismissal.
The session was adjourned before it could proceed with the scheduled agenda. Despite Speaker Devraj Ghimire's appeal to the protesting lawmakers to cooperate in creating a conducive environment for resuming the House business, the deadlock remained unresolved.
Multiple rounds of dialogue between the ruling and opposition parties have been held in an effort to find common ground, but no consensus has been reached so far.
The next session of the HoR has been rescheduled for 3:00 PM on Thursday, June 12.
