KATHMANDU: A person died after being hit by a mini truck in Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-4 of Bhaktapur district on Wednesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Jagat Kumar Shrestha (66) of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-5 of the district.

According to police, the incident occurred when the truck (Ba 2 Ka 8006) en route from Kathmandu to Bhaktapur hit the pedestrian Shrestha in Chaardobato at 5:30 am today, while he was crossing the road.

The cirtically injured was rushed to the Bhaktapur-based District hospital, where he breathed his last during the course of treatment there, infromed Deputy Superintendent of Police Krishna Prasain, at the Metropolitan Police Range, Bhaktapur.

Meanwhile, the Thimi-based Metropolitan Police Circle has impounded the vehicle and detained its driver Prem Bahadur Moktan (29) of Sisakhani of Kavrepalanchowk district, currently living in Jagati of Suryabinayak Municipality-8 .

Further investigation into the case is under way.
