KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 17
Nepal Police today evening made public one person who has admitted to killing four persons on the night of September 15 inside a sawmill in Tinkune, Kathmandu.
Metropolitan Police Range, Teku, today late evening made pubic an inborn mute person, Sanjay Bhandari, 23, of Barhabise Municipality of Sindhupalchowk district. Sanjay has admitted to the police in the presence of sign language experts that he had killed all four persons after being unable to control his rage.
Kathmanduties woke up to shocking news yesterday morning after the body of four people, including three belonging to the same family, were found dead inside a saw mill where they had been working. Those who were killed are Kumar Bhujel, the 56-year-old gatekeeper at the sawmill from Dolakha, his wife Ambika Bhujel, 52, Kumar's mother Shubhadra Bhujel, 76, and Nabin Rai, 20, originally hailing from Belbari of Morang.
Sanjay was a complete stranger to all the deceased. A few days ago, Sanjay met with an accident with Nabin in Balaju of Kathmandu. Nabin had manhandled Sanjay following the accident as the latter had taken the incident too seriously.
In fact, Sanjay had started following Nabin. Eventually, he finally found his place at the sawmill. Nabin used to live in the first floor of a temporary structure in the sawmill.
Police upon following the CCTV footage of the area had identified that Sanjay had searched the area three or four times previously. On the day of the incident, Sanjay had left his sister's house at Kadaghari where he was residing saying that he would take revenge of the beating and behead Nabin if he did not apologise. That night, Sanjay entered Nabin's place of residence by climbing the fences behind the sawmill.
He secretly went inside Nabin's room. As he did not find him there, he waited for him inside the room. At around 11:00pm, Nabin arrived there and was shocked to see the man inside his room. Nabin and Sanjay then had dispute about the accident. Then, Sanjay charged him with a sharp Khukuri he was carrying in the backpack. When Sanjay hit him with the weapon multiple times, elderly Subhadra Bhujel saw the incident.
Blinded by rage and fearing that she would reveal the killing, he came down to the floor and charged the elderly with the same Khukuri. Meanwhile, as Subhadra's son Kumar entered the sawmill, Sanjay charged him with the weapon at the very entrance of the gate.
And eventually, he also charged Ambika with the same Khukuri. All the victims were attacked multiple times on the head.
After killing them, Sanjay dragged the bodies of all four and tried to hide them in the corners of the sawmill. Meanwhile, he realised that someone was trying to force enter the sawmill from the main gate. So, he escaped from the same place he had entered earlier.
He then went to his friend's house carrying the weapon used in the murder and wearing the same dress. The next day, he went to his sister home, had meal and went to meet his college friends at Naxal.
By that time police had gathered the CCTV footage of the site and identified the man but was unaware of his identity as Sanjay. Police across the valley were mobilised to identify the person with similar physical appearance.
