KATHMANDU, MAY 14

CPN-UML Chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli held talks with Madhav Kumar Nepal and agreed to address his key demand of reviving party structures and committees that existed before the UML's merger with CPN-Maoist Centre.

Gokarna Bista, federal lawmaker who is close to Nepal and was present during the talks, told THT that the PM agreed to revive party committees and structures that existed before the UML's merger with the CPN-MC. He added that Oli and Nepal would form a task force to work out how to implement the pact.

Nepal has been saying that Oli's decision to induct 23 former Maoists in the CPN-UML central committee, including Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, was against the party's statute and the PM should rescind it.

Thapa, who is considered close to OIi, was among the PM's talks team.
