Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has instructed the National Sports Council to begin preparations for organizing the Nepal Premier League (NPL).

While inaugurating the National High Performance Centre and Sports Science Research Center in Satdobato, Lalitpur today, the Prime Minister directed the Council to work towards hosting the NPL with a strong sense of teamwork and collaboration.

With this directive, the uncertainty surrounding the second edition of the NPL-slated to be organized by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN)-has been resolved.

The Prime Minister also emphasized that politics should not interfere in the realm of sports.

Reflecting on his recent visit to a stadium in Madrid, Spain, PM Oli announced plans to construct a new stadium in Bhaktapur with a seating capacity of 50,000, citing the limited capacity of Dasharath Stadium.

Furthermore, he instructed the National Sports Council to ensure that the National Sports Competition is held in November, asserting that repeated postponements of the event have become a matter of national embarrassment.

On the occasion, Minister for Youth and Sports Tejulal Chaudhary and Vice-Chairman of the National Sports Council Dhruba Acharya also spoke about ongoing sports development initiatives in the country.
