KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 14

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has warned that he has no option but to remove underperforming ministers from their posts.

PM Dahal issued this warning while expressing dissatisfaction with some ministries for their failure to achieve the targets outlined in the last meeting on government programs and the budget.

Failure to perform as promised and meet expectations leads to removal from posts. This is what PM Dahal emphasized during a quarterly review meeting on government programs and the budget held at his office on Thursday.

During the meeting, he directed ministers and secretaries to ensure effective results and public service in line with government policies and programs. He stressed the need for people to realize a change in government service delivery.

Although the review period witnessed positive indicators of economic development, we must not be complacent. Instead of highlighting weaknesses, mutual efforts and collaboration help achieve consensus and developmental progress for the people, he suggested.

"The government under my leadership is nearing a year in office. However, we have not been able to deliver to the people as per their expectations," he reminded, urging ministers and secretaries to conduct an objective review of the annual programs, plans, and projects. He appealed to all to correct mistakes and advance activities that encourage the people.

He asked all ministries to present clear action plans in the next review meeting.

During the meeting, Minister for Physical Infrastructures and Transport, Prakash Jwala; Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supply, Ramesh Rijal; and Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Sudan Kirati, complained of inadequate budget, a lack of workforce, and a lack of coordination and cooperation behind the non-implementation of projects. They also expressed concern about the provisions of the Public Procurement Act.

The Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office, Ganesh Pande, presented the four-month progress report in the meeting.
