KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 17

A contempt of court petition has been filed against Prime Minister Sushila Karki at the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday.

The complaint accuses Prime Minister Karki of defying the Court's interim order, which had directed the government not to immediately enforce its decision to recall Nepal's ambassadors from various host countries.

Legal practitioner Prem Silwal registered the petition, and the hearing has been scheduled for November 23, according to SC Spokesperson Arjun Prasad Koirala.

On October 15, the government had decided to recall 11 ambassadors appointed by the previous administration. However, a division bench of Justices Saranga Subedi and Shreekanta Paudel subsequently issued an interim order restraining the government from implementing the decision without delay.

Despite the order, the government instructed the ambassadors to report to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the very next day, prompting the contempt allegation.
