KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 28
Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that unnecessary poll spending and undue influence on voters must be curbed, adding that "clean candidates" should be able to win elections.
During a meeting with Nepal Pariwar Dal Chairman Eak Nath Dhakal at the Office of the Prime Minister on Friday, PM Karki said that the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election should be different from those held in the past.
"You have been preparing for the election. This is encouraging. With this, the upcoming poll should be different from previous ones. Election spending should be controlled, and extravagance in publicity should be minimized," the Prime Minister said.
She added that campaign methods should be reformed in ways that reduce candidates' expenses, enabling clean and capable individuals to enter Parliament.
On the occasion, Chairman Dhakal praised the government's efforts to create an environment conducive to the upcoming March 5 HoR elections.
