KATHMANDU, JUNE 20
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the newly constructed Gwarko underpass will help alleviate the long-standing problem of traffic congestion in Gwarko and its surrounding areas.
Inaugurating the flyover amid a ceremony organized by the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Prime Minister Oli reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the holistic and multi-dimensional development of the country.
Constructed by the Ministry, the underpass is the first of its kind in Nepal. The infrastructure was built by Ashish Samanantar Religar JV under the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) model at a cost of Rs 170.6 million.
The overpass includes a 500-meter approach road and is part of an initiative launched four years ago to ease traffic congestion at Gwarko Chowk.
"We have been working tirelessly for the country's development. Just yesterday, it was discovered that Dailekh holds a deposit of methane gas sufficient to meet Nepal's energy needs for the next 50 years.
Among the three sites identified for exploration, this potential was found at just one," the Prime Minister said. He further stated that the commencement of iron production from Dhaubadi would significantly contribute to the national economy.
PM Oli emphasized that alongside mineral exploration, efforts would be made to modernize agriculture. He also highlighted the government's focus on establishing new industries and implementing social and administrative reforms.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister remarked that projects such as the Sunkoshi-Marin Diversion and the Postal Highway would bring transformative change not only in the Tarai region but across the entire country.
Other major infrastructure initiatives, including the Madan Bhandari Highway and the Pushpalal Highway, are also progressing steadily, he added.
