A joint team from the Area Police Office, Lalbandi, and the Narcotics Control Bureau office in Bardibas, Mahottari, raided the houses of two suspects in Daini Tole of Lalbandi-14 on Thursday based on a tip-off, according to Sarlahi Police.
Police arrested 67-year-old Nar Bahadur Thing and 52-year-old Jesun Maya Thing after finding the marijuana concealed in drums and sacks at their homes.
During further investigation, police also found marijuana cultivated on about two katthas of public land behind a maize field near the area. The plants were subsequently destroyed, police said.

The recovery of large quantities of marijuana on a regular basis and the discovery of cultivation on public land indicate the challenges faced by authorities in controlling narcotics in Sarlahi.
