KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 26

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has pledged to adopt a new approach to policy formulation, targeting an agricultural revolution and job creation.

Speaking at a program organized by the General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT) on the occasion of the 7th Social Security Day in Kathmandu today, PM Oli emphasized the government's commitment to enhancing agricultural productivity and ensuring equitable distribution.

The Prime Minister expressed his ambition to bring transformative changes during his tenure without imposing burdens on future generations. He assured that government efforts would focus on tangible improvements directly benefiting the people.

Oli, who also chairs the CPN (UML), commended GEFONT for its pivotal role in leading successful labor movements. He highlighted that the social security schemes introduced by his party were inspired by these movements and underscored the significant achievements made since the programs' inception. He expressed confidence in further advancements within the coming year.

The Prime Minister criticized the practice of making critical labor-related decisions without involving key stakeholders, including workers and contributors. He reaffirmed his commitment to addressing such tendencies within the Social Security Fund, ensuring inclusivity and fairness.

GEFONT President Binod Shrestha, speaking at the event, expressed concerns that the Social Security Fund is not sufficiently laborer-friendly.

On this occasion, PM Oli honored people's representatives actively leading social security initiatives at the local level. Honorees included Phedikhola Rural Municipality Chairperson Ghanashyam Subedi, Bhimphedi Rural Municipality Chairperson Hridaya Lama, Baansgadhi Rural Municipality Mayor Khadga Bahadur Khadka, Belbari Municipality Mayor Dil Prasad (DP) Rai, and Sundar Haraicha Municipality Mayor Kedar Prasad Guragain.
