The police have today arrested a person from New Road in Kathmandu for his involvement in the illegal transaction of gold.
The police also confiscated gold biscuits and ornaments from the arrestee identified as Padam Pandey originally from Kailali district, and currently living in Nagarjun, Kathmandu.
Acting on a tip off, a team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Division raided the factory of Pandey before arresting him and gold biscuits and ornaments, said Superintendent of Police Rabindra Regmi. The confiscated gold is being weighed, he added.
The police are yet to disclose the quantity of gold seized. Some gold has been seized in biscuit form, and some others in ornament form, he said, adding that investigations are underway.
