KATHMANDU: Police on Wednesday destroyed a large amount of homemade alcohol from Gongabu Bus Park Area, as part of freeing the area from alcohol.

A team from the Metropolitan Police Sector in Gongabu raided various local bar and hotels, and seized around 1,000 liters of homemade liquor and destroyed it, said Sector Chief Pratap Poudel.

At least 3,000 litres of homemade alcohol were seized in the past one week when the campaign against selling and producing alcohol illegally started, he said.

"We dumped the alcohol in the presence of the town reform committee, women's group and local representatives," he added.
