KATHMANDU, AUGUST 2
Police shot and arrested a robbery suspect after he allegedly attempted to attack officers with a khukuri during an operation in Budhanilkantha Municipality-13, Chunikhyel, on Saturday night.
According to Nepal Police, Karma Tamang, who had been on the run in connection with a chain-snatching case, was tracked down at around 10:25 pm. Police said he attempted to assault the arresting team with a khukuri, prompting officers to fire three rounds.
Tamang was taken into custody with gunshot injuries and admitted to the Trauma Centre in Kathmandu for treatment. Police also recovered the khukuri allegedly used in the incident.
Further investigation is underway.
