President, PM discuss bilateral cooperation with Indian FinMin

KATHMANDU: Visiting Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday met President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal separately.

President Bhandari and Indian Minister Jaitley discussed bilateral relationships between Nepal and India during the meeting held at the Sheetal Niwas, according to a press statement issued by the President's Office today.

Similarly, the Indian leader also called on Prime Minister Dahal at the PM's residence in Baluwatar on Thursday evening.

PM Dahal talked about development of infrastructures including the Postal Highway, expansion of transmission lines and Arun-III Hydropower Project among others, the PM's Secretariat informed after the meeting.

He thanked Jaitley for India's support and also asked him to extend their support in hydropower, tourism and agricultural sectors as well.

Likewise, PM Dahal also informed the visiting minister that the government was active in implementing the Constitution and was trying to move forward in consensus with other parties.

Indian Minister Jaitley, who is on a visit to attend the two-day Nepal Investment Summit 2017, on the occasion, said, "For a country like Nepal, direct foreign investment is very important and the Summit can provide positive outcome for the same."

"India is always ready to cooperate with Nepal for its economic development," he added.
