President urges for protection of culture on occasion of Gyalpo Lhosar
KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has wished peace, prosperity and happiness to all people from Sherpa community living in the country and abroad on the occasion of Gyalpo Lhosar.
In a message of best wishes today, President Bhandari expressed hope that the festival would foster unity, harmony and fraternity among all Nepali people. "Festivals of cultural importance popularises Nepal across the globe with its distinct identity. So everyone should pay attention for the protection and promotion of such festivals and cultural elements," President Bhandari underscored in the message.
On the same occasion, Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun wished peace, prosperity and happiness to all Sherpa sisters and brothers who are living in the country and abroad.
In his message of best wishes given today, Vice-President Pun expressed belief that the festival would further enhance harmony, tolerance and fraternity among the Nepali people.
Similarly, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has extended his best wishes to all people from the Sherpa community living in the country and abroad.
Extending a message of best wishes on the occasion of Gyalpo Lhosar, PM Oli said the first priority of the government is to make Nepali people happy and the country prosperous.
"The government will work to create employment by maximum utilisation of the natural resources that Nepal is rich in and lead the country towards development," the PM said in his message, expressing belief that the Sherpa community would support the government in this regard.
PM Oli also reiterated the commitment of maintaining democracy and peace in the country along with the guarantee of fundamental rights to the people.
