KATHMANDU, AUGUST 6
President Ramchandra Paudel has called on the State to safeguard the future of athletes by providing them with opportunities within the sports sector itself.
Speaking at a reception held in honor of Rabindra Dhant, the newly crowned Matrix Fight Night (MFN) champion in India, the Head of State underscored the importance of motivating and recognizing sportspersons while advancing the overall development of sports in the country.
It is noteworthy that Dhant made history by becoming the first Nepali national to win the MFN title, defeating an Indian opponent in the final bout.
"Our athletes have the potential to set records and achieve great success, provided they are given opportunities to compete in national and international events, along with access to necessary facilities and the recognition they deserve," the President said.
Highlighting the vital role of sports in shaping an individual's physical, mental, and overall personality, President Paudel expressed confidence that the government, along with sports organizations and related agencies, would work more effectively to strengthen the country's sports sector.
Dhant, popularly known as Bajhang ko Bagh (Bajhang's Tiger), expressed that winning the Bantamweight Champion title through sheer skill, strength, and perseverance was a moment of great pride for all Nepalis.
On the occasion, President Paudel also extended his gratitude to everyone who contributed to Dhant's remarkable achievement.
Dhant secured his historic victory by defeating defending champion Chungreng Koren of India in the MFN Bantamweight Championship held in Greater Noida, India, on August 2.
