KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 7

President Ramchandra Paudel has vowed to initiate efforts to resolve problems facing entrepreneurs and industrialists.

Upon receiving a memorandum submitted by the Nepal National Entrepreneurs' Federation on Wednesday, President Paudel expressed his awareness of the challenges confronting entrepreneurs and industrialists. He remarked, "Industrialists play a crucial role in the recovery of the national economy. Your demands are legitimate. I will make efforts from my side to address your concerns."

Federation Chairperson Kumar Karki urged the Head of State to lower the interest rate to single digits to facilitate the recovery of industries that suffered significant setbacks due to the Corona crisis.

The Federation also called for a reduction in customs quotas, skills and capacity development of youths at the local level, and the launch of a special scheme to attract youths to agriculture.

The memorandum also emphasized the need for market availability of agricultural products, smooth transportation of consignments via the Keyrong border point, fair rent policies, promotion of domestic investment and resources, and an end to the influence of select groups in policy-making affecting the private sector.

Additionally, it demanded the formation of a high-level committee comprising industrialists and entrepreneurs from all sectors, aiming to eliminate the dominance of certain organizations in private sector policy formulation.

Similarly, the memorandum advocated for extending the auction period to at least six months, as opposed to the current 35 days, for real estate auctions conducted by banks and financial institutions.

Furthermore, it suggested that banks and financial institutions allocate at least 50 percent of their investments to small and medium-scale enterprises.

The office-bearers and members of the Federation were present on the occasion.
