Private sector urged to help curb flu spread
KATHMANDU: Nepal Medical Association (NMA) today said the government alone could not handle the pandemic outbreak of Influenza A (H1N1) in the country.
Speaking at an interaction on A (H1N1) here today, Dr Kedar Narsingh KC, president of NMA, said the government should join hands with the private sector to lessen the effect of the A (H1N1) virus and other health issues.
“Now the people are aware and have started visiting health clinics even after contracting seasonal flu,” KC said, adding that many people are unaware about the symptoms of A (H1N1) and are panic-struck after contracting seasonal flu.
“One should maintain a safe distance from suspected persons (at least one metre), wash their hands carefully and use handkerchief while sneezing and coughing to avoid contracting A (H1N1),” Dr KC added.
