Promotion of naturopathy sought

Experts from Natural Health and Yoga today urged the government to launch programmes

to promote naturopathy and yoga. Paying tribute to Dr Kashi Raj Upadhyay, the pioneer of naturopathy in Nepal, former education minister Mod Nath Prashrit said natural therapy should be institutionalised from the government level. The condolence meet was organised by the Arogya Ashram. “Some work was done to promote natural therapy in the nation when I was a minister,” he said, adding the then government was trying to include naturopathy course at the university. Talking about the immense contribution of late Upadhyay, Prashrit said Upadhyay wanted to spread knowledge about naturopathy across the nation because it is cheaper and an effective medication system for the rich and the poor alike. “Many foreigners used to visit his place and got rid of chronic illnesses,” Prashrit said. Senior Naturopath Dr Hari Prasad Sharma said late Upadhyay was the foremost naturopath of the modern age. He also urged promotion of naturopathy nationwide by training people about indigenous knowledge in a scientific way.
