PSC submits its 59th annual report to Prez

KATHMANDU: The Public Service Commission (PSC) today submitted its 59th annual report to President Bidya Devi Bhandari at the latter's office in Sheetal Niwas.

At a programme organised at the President's office, PSC Chairperson Umesh Prasad Mainali submitted the report for the fiscal year 2016/017 to President Bhandari.

PSC submitted the report as per the Article 294 of the Constitution of Nepal.

Submitting the report, PSC Chair Mainali said that 1,204 vacancies were announced for 5,970 posts, and 1,807 under inclusive competition in previous fiscal year. A total of 567,853 applications were registered for the same.

The applications filed for the jobs increased by six folds in the past 10 years. The highest number of applications was received for the post of Kharidar which stood at 146,476. A total of 7,718 candidates have been recommended for permanent appointment. Of them, 32 per cent are women.

According to PSC's report, 3,244 have been recommended towards inclusive competition. PSC Chair Mainali said 41,068 candidates were recommended for permanent appointment in the last eight years.

PSC Spokesperson Kiran Raj Sharma said that the Commission has now brought the three-year strategic plan into implementation.

Likewise, out of 369,857 applicants towards security bodies and organised state institutions, 159,426 examinees attended the written examinations.
