Pupils test negative for swine flu

KATHMANDU: Students of Shree Bal Adarsha Secondary School of Khopasi, Panauti-12, today returned home after they tested negative to Pandemic Influenza A (H1N1).

Around 70 students have gone on an educational tour to Illam, organised by the school, when a student died after going unconscious. But the students feared that their colleague died of swine flu.

Students were first admitted at the Bharatpur Hospital, which later referred them to Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital in Kathmandu, suspecting them of swine flu on Wednesday evening.

Dr Basu Dev Pandey of the hospital said that they had taken sample test of eight students among which one has been tested with positive result through rapid test.

Pandey said that around 10 students and teachers, who suffered high fever, had been brought to the hospital by an ambulance. He further added that they are unknown about the cause of death of a student as post-mortem has not been done so far.
