KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 13

CPN-UML leader Bhim Rawal has said the decision taken against the party statute while picking candidates for national election was arbitrary.

Organising a news conference in the capital city today, Rawal said the UML leadership humiliated him by not giving ticket to contest the federal election from Achham Constituency No 1 though Rawal was the only leader recommended from the party's local committees.

"I was deprived of my ticket due to my solidarity for self-respect, good-governance and justice. The party leadership had attempted to prevent an electoral gathering in my constituency on September 23.

The ticket was not given to me after a report was received that I could not be defeated. This is sheer conspiracy and an arbitrary decision," Rawal fumed at the UML leadership.

Likewise, Rawal expressed serious reservation on the UML decision to support another party's leader in Makawanpur district and distribution of tickets to new entrants from other parties. Rawal also said he stood against such moves. Furthermore, he elaborated that problems in the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) emerged after KP Sharma Oli reached secret deal with former prime minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on power sharing for half terms each, adding that Oli skipped several meetings of the Parliament and attended meetings only when he was wanted to make statements.

Rawal also criticised Oli for violating the party principles and policy.

Stating that he would not quit UML for which he struggled for five decades, Rawal announced he would continue his political and ideological struggles in the party.
