Reconstruction Consultation Committee holds maiden meeting
KATHMANDU: The Reconstruction Consultation National Committee under the National Reconstruction Authority on Wednesday held its first meeting.
According to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's press advisor, the meeting took place at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar this morning.
During the meeting, NRA Chief Executive Officer Sushil Gyawali had presented a three-month plan of the reconstruction body. The plan has four phases to be implemented from January 16 to April 24.
The meeting endorsed the plan.
The Act on Reconstruction of Earthquake Affected Structures has a provision that the Prime Minister heads the Committee.
Ministers, leader of the main opposition party in the Parliament, former prime ministers, leaders of all parties represented in the Parliament, NRA Chief Executive Officer, National Planning Commission Vice-Chairman, Chief Secretary of the Government, Governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank, some secretaries as appointed by the Prime Minister among others are ex-officio members of the Committee.
The Committee advises the NRA about plans and policies needed for reconstruction works.
The Parliament on December 16 had unanimously endorsed the Bill on Reconstruction of Earthquake Affected Structures, enabling the government to carry out reconstruction of the structures affected by the April 25 earthquake.
The President on December 20 had enacted the Bill.
