RPP-Nepal to vote against Dahal

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal has decided to vote against CPN Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal in the prime ministerial election today.

The party's central committee and Parliamentary Party meeting held this morning decided not to lend its support to Dahal who is the sole candidate for Prime Minister.

The Parliament is scheduled to hold voting to elect new Prime Minister through majority today.

RPP-Nepal's CC and PP had witnessed differing views on whether to support Dahal and take part in new coalition government.

Backed by Nepali Congress, Madhesi parties and other fringe parties, Dahal, however, has already ensured majority for his victory in the one-man race.

"We had two options - morality and government. We chose first," RPP-Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa, who was Deputy Prime Minister in outgoing KP Sharma Oli-led government, said.

RPP-Nepal has 25 lawmakers in the 595-member Parliament.
