Ruling parties discuss local polls, amendment with UDMF
KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition leaders--Nepali Congress and CPN Maoist Centre--on Monday discussed issues of local polls and Constitution amendment with the United Democratic Madhesi Front.
The meeting, however, did not make any progress.
The leaders just decided to hold a meeting inviting all parties supporting the government, a statement issued by the PM's Secretariat quoted Maoist leader Pampha Bhusal as saying.
Prime Minister and CPN Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had called the meeting to discuss the crucial political issues with the Madhes-centric parties.
The UDMF has been pressing the government to facilitate endorsement of the amendment bill as soon as possible, but to postpone the elections for now.
