KATHMANDU: Police on Saturday arrested a man who allegedly snatched a gold necklace off a woman in Koteshwor, KMC-35 on Saturday.

The victim has been identified as Palpha Tamang (30) of Dolakha district, currently living in Jadibuti. Police identified the culprit as Chhengole Gurung (61) of Nagur-7, in Nuwakot district.

According to police, Gurung had approached Tamang, who was shopping. Then, he had snatched the gold chain (weighing 11.67 grams) worth Rs 58, 000 she was wearing and ran away before a patrol team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Sector, Koteshwor intercepted him.

Further investigation is underway.
