Kathmandu, April 26:
The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) today decided to submit a memorandum to the Chief Justice, Hari Prasad Sharma, regarding a controversial speech he recently made in Australia. According to Dhruba Nath Pant, chairman of the SCBA, the memorandum will be given to the Chief Justice seeking his apology for his ‘wrong speech’. “We have also decided to seek his explanation whether he is ready to apologise or not for the speech that tarnished the image of the judiciary,” Pant told The Himalayan Times. “Definitely, we will lunch other protest programmes if Sharma does not apologise,” he added. The SCBA will set a deadline for the Chief Justice to give his views. “If he is not ready to apologise we will be compelled to boycott his bench.”
