KATHMANDU, MAY 27

The Supreme Court has issued an interim order directing the government not to immediately enforce its decision to suspend the issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOC) for students planning to pursue studies in South Korea.

A single bench of Justice Sunil Pokharel issued the order today, noting that suspending NOCs for students who have already completed all formal procedures and secured scholarships could result in irreparable harm. Therefore, the decision should not be implemented until a final verdict is reached on the writ petition.

The interim order was issued during a preliminary hearing on a writ petition filed by one of the affected students, Eliza Pandey, along with others, challenging the government's decision. The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has been named as the respondent in the petition.

Furthermore, the court has instructed the government to submit a written response, including justifications for the decision, within 15 days.
