Search and rescue canine course

Conducted for the first time in the country, a search and rescue canine course, concluded here on Saturday.

Jointly organised by Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre and Miami Dade Fire Rescue Service Canine Component in Police Training Academy, the course had been carried out to rescue people during any disastrous events and for VVIP security, as per the police bulletin. Tirtha Kumar Pradhan, director of the academy and additional inspector general of police, handed out certificates to the trainers and the trainees amid a programme.

Meanwhile, international trainers Captain Gregory Geriach, Lieutenant Tory Kidd, Captain Billy Kidd and Parichatt Krongkant were presented souvenirs as token of appreciation by the academy and the trainees.

The speakers stressed on the importance of the programme and emphasised on the need for its continuity. Total of 15 personnel, including seven police and eight army officials, had participated in the training that had commenced last week, the release stated.
