Human Rights and Peace Society Nepal today urged the government and the protesting forces to seek a political solution to the ongoing protests across the country.

Issuing a press statement today, HURPES said it was shocked and seriously concerned about the news of the death of four protesters -- three in Jaleshwar and Mahottari, and one in Bhardah of Saptari district yesterday.

HURPES also said that the government was dealing with the protests as a law and order problem. It also condemned the attack on a journalist in Biratnagar yesterday. HURPES said the protesters violated the norms of peaceful agitation on several occasions and condemned the protesters’ threat of a blockade.
