Sitaula nominated to JC
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on Sunday nominated Senior Advocate Ram Prasad Sitaula as a member of the Judicial Council.
PM has the authority to nominate one member in the JC. President Ram Baran Yadav’s personal aide Lalit Basnet said Prime Minister Sushil Koirala wrote a letter to the Office of the President nominating Sitaula as a JC member.
“The President is expected to take a call on the PM’s letter possibly on Monday,” Basnet said. Senior Advocate Sitaula is a resident of Jhapa and has been practising law since 1977.
He said if he was appointed as JC member, his effort would be to fill the vacant posts of the Supreme Court immediately and select justices who could deliver right judgments in the public interest litigations.
Sitaula said he would also try his best to extend the term of temporary judges of the Appellate court and elevate the deserving district court judges to higher posts.
