KATHMANDU, JANUARY 8

The Ministry of Health and Population has confirmed the spread of the new sub-variant JN.1 of COVID-19 in Nepal. This sub-variant has been observed spreading in some countries in recent weeks.

In a press statement issued on Monday, the Ministry urged everyone to exercise precautionary measures following the detection of sub-variant JN.1.

Dr. Prakash Budhathoki, the Ministry's spokesperson, informed the RSS that seven out of 16 samples collected from various parts of the country and different age groups confirmed the presence of sub-variant JN.1 of Omicron.

The Ministry emphasizes the need to avoid crowds and gatherings, maintain physical distance, continue using masks, and regularly wash hands with soap and water."
